
LANDIS, N.C. — At approximately 11:30 p.m. on Friday, October 17, officers from the Landis Police Department attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicle on South Chapel Street near East Ryder Avenue for alleged careless and reckless driving and speeding.
When the driver failed to yield, officers engaged in a pursuit. The suspect vehicle eventually crashed into a utility/power pole at the intersection of East 30th Street and South Chapel Street.
After the crash, the individuals in the vehicle allegedly fired shots at officers and then fled the scene on foot. No officers were injured in the incident.
Police have described the event as isolated and have stated that there is no ongoing threat to the public. Investigators are actively seeking the suspects and asking anyone with information to contact Sergeant Watts at 704-857-2129.
